Product Review: Tony Moly Crystal Lovely Eyes Shadow-Liner Duo (05)

Last week I made my first visit to the first Tony Moly store in the United States. I was lured to Tony Moly by the rumors of hand creams in containers shaped like apples and lipsticks in cases shaped like cats and all sorts of glitter and twinkle and cuteness. I was not disappointed. (Well, they don’t have the cat lipsticks, yet… but I live in hope.)

Being me, I managed to seek out a more practical item or two amidst all the fun. I picked up a pencil called Crystal Lovely Eyes (or, as the product itself reads, Crystal Lovley Eyes) for $8.

Product Review: Burt’s Bees Lip Crayon in Hawaiian Smolder

Burt’s Bees recently launched its newest cosmetics item, the 100% natural Lip Crayon. The official product description promises “lightweight moisture for a comfortable, everyday wear formula infused with shea butter, kendi oil, and jojoba oil” as well as creamy matte color and moisture-rich wear” with no added flavor or fragrance.

Product Review: Chagrin Valley Soap & Salve Company Buttercream Cleansing Cream

As far as facial cleansing goes, I’m still loyal to LUSH’s 9-5 for a morning rinse and Liz Earle’s Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser for evening makeup-removal and a deeper clean. On especially warm and sticky days of the summer, however, I’ve been using Chagrin Valley Soap & Salve Company’s Buttercream Cleansing Cream once or twice a week when I need a little extra something to wash away the day’s sweat and grime.

Buttercream Cleansing Cream is a thick, waxy product packaged in a glass jar. When you scoop out a small amount and work it onto damp skin, however, it alters into a thin, liquid-y cream with light foam. It’s actually a combination of soap with moisturizing ingredients, so it cleans without leaving my face feeling tight and dried out.

Sunday Riley Blush in Blushing

I can’t believe I’ve haven’t already written about Sunday Riley’s powder blush in Blushing. It’s been a staple in my makeup routine for the past two years or more. It’s one of those perfect basics that’s worth the investment, because it’s incredibly versatile and it lasts a very long time.

Here’s an official product photograph. Blushing is a very natural rose shade; I’ve seen it described as “cool,” but I think it’s closer to being a true neutral.

The packaging is Sunday Riley’s usual black-and-gold compact (with a mirror).

My Summer Hair Routine

It’s summer, and my style is a little more casual (read: unemployed) than usual this year, so I’m paring down a few of my personal-care routines. Why not start at the top, so to speak? My curly-wavy hair loves summer weather, to the point where its exuberance needs to be restrained a bit. The problem is always how to fight wild frizz without losing all volume and texture (because I actually like having naturally curly hair).

Sometimes, less is more.
