Just two or three months ago, every glossy women’s magazine was encouraging us to create “mermaid waves,” “goddess hair,” or “beachy texture” with a salt-based hair-spritz product. Most of the products they recommended were ridiculously overpriced, full of damaging ingredients, or smelled like a piña colada, so I was able to pass…until I came across LUSH’s Sea Spray.

Product Review: LUSH Emotional Brilliance Translucent Face Powder

Nothing forces us to assess our usual makeup routines like a summer heat wave. This is the time to pare down, to lighten up, and to keep things simple. It’s also the time when we (or I, at least) need to fight extra facial shine. The problem is that most “mattifying” makeup also has a tendency to look chalky, or else it includes ingredients that irritate my skin.
LUSH’s Emotional Brilliance Translucent Face Powder is beautifully simple, and it’s been my everyday finishing powder for the past year. For special days/nights, I still turn to Caron’s loose powder, but Emotional Brilliance is a basic yet effective (and affordable) alternative.

Product Review: LUSH 9 to 5 Cleansing Lotion
As part of my early-2012 skincare overhaul, nearly one year ago, I changed the way I wash my face in the morning. I used to wash with a foaming gel cleanser in the shower. But the cleanser was discontinued, and then a skincare expert warned me that my skin was dehydrated and advised me to stop washing in the morning altogether.
I’ve given up the morning lather, and my skin really does feel smoother and look healthier now that it’s not stripped dry and tight at 7 a.m. every day. Instead, I a) spritz my face with some rosewater and wipe it with a cotton ball, or b) if I’m feeling a bit oily or grimy, I use a little LUSH 9 t0 5 in the shower.
