Confetti on the Silver Screen: New Year’s Eve at the Movies

New Year’s Eve has never really been a favorite occasion of mine. 2014 was a frustrating and disappointing year for me, so I’m glad to see it end. I just can’t work up much cheer. That’s the way it crumbles, cookie-wise. (Apartment reference!)

All the same, I have to admit that this last day of the year works well as a plot device for movies. I recently wrote a “listicle” of ten films that take place partially or entirely on New Year’s Eve. You can read it here, at

  1. I share your sentiment about 2014. It was not a good year. There were a handful of good moments but overall it was pretty awful.
Here’s hoping that 2015 has something better in store for both of us. Happy New Year!
Now I’m off to read your other article.

    1. It was a dreadful year on the world stage, that’s for sure… and an exasperating/sad one in my own tiny corner. I’m sorry to hear that you experienced it the same way! Wishing you all good fortune in 2015 — you deserve it!
