Boxwalla Beauty Box Review, June 2016

It’s Boxwalla time again! The past two months have flown by. I’m actually still using and enjoying my treats from April; this is why a bi-monthly schedule works just fine for me.

Here’s what I saw when I opened the June “Beauty Box.” Four products were nestled amongst the biodegradable packing bits.

Henné Organics Rose Diamonds Lip Exfoliator, 1oml jar (retails for $24)

A lip scrub is a special little indulgence that really can help to soften dry or chapped lips — if it’s good quality, that is. Cheap, scratchy lip scrubs just make matters worse. Henné Organics’ Rose Diamonds Lip Exfoliator is effective but gentle, with just the right balance of sugar grains and soothing natural oils and butters. And it has a heavenly rosewater scent, which is the proverbial icing on the cake for me.

Ingredients: Organic Sugar, Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Beeswax, Organic Shea Butter, Organic Vanilla Flavor, Organic Jojoba Seed Oil, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Organic Red Chokeberry, Organic Rosa Damascena Oil. USDA Certified Organic.

Gressa Lumière Complexion Fluid in Elise (5 ml pump bottle, retails for $28)

This is a multi-tasking liquid that can be worn as cheek color or lip color. “Elise” is an iridescent shocking pink shade when it’s dispensed — I was nervous about applying! Fortunately, Boxwalla co-founder Lavanya had already advised me to use just the tiniest bit of product. She was right: a pinhead-sized drop of Lumière is enough. I dab it onto my cheeks with a fingertip, pat it along my cheekbones with more fingertips, and blend with a synthetic-bristle blush brush. The result is a surprisingly natural-looking “glowy” flush.

Another drop of Lumière, applied and spread with a fingertip, works beautifully as a rosy lip tint. I don’t even need lip balm under it.

Ingredients: Castor Seed Oil,* Broccoli Seed Oil,* Rosehip Seed Oil,* Sea Buckthorn Seed Oil,*  Safflower Oleosomes, Rosemary Extract, CoEnzymeQ10, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate. *Proprietary blend of therapeutic precious oils. *CERTIFIED ORGANIC

Rachel’s Plan Bee Body Polish (7 oz. jar, retails for $20)

Rachel’s Plan Bee bodycare and skincare incorporates beeswax (of course!) and a plethora of other nourishing “green” ingredients. I normally feel pretty “eh” about body scrubs, since they are often too scratchy or oily, but this one is perfectly composed. It’s solid until you scoop into it, and on damp skin it morphs into a skin-buffing paste that gradually dissolves. It doesn’t make the shower/tub slippery, but it leaves arms and legs feeling smooth!

Ingredients: Sucrose*, Apricot Kernel Oil*, Shea Butter*, Grapeseed Oil, Moroccan Lava Clay, White Kaolin, Beeswax, Tocopherol (mixed)**, Sweet Orange Oil*, Vanilla Planifolia, Grapefruit Peel Oil, Glyceryl Monocaprylate, Glyceryl Monoundecylenate.  (*Certified Organic **Non-GMO)

Rachel’s Plan Bee Bee Cream Mini (0.5 oz. jar, retails for $6)

Here’s another multi-tasker! Bee Cream is an easily spreadable formula that melts into skin. So far I’ve used it on cuticles, dry areas on hands, and small patches of dry skin around my mouth and between my eyes. It also works as a creamy lip balm, perfect for bedtime.

Ingredients: Grapeseed Oil, Beeswax, Shea Butter*, Coconut Oil*, Apricot Kernel Oil*, Tocopherol (mixed)**, Sweet Orange Oil*, Vanilla and Grapefruit Peel Oils  *Certified organic **Non-GMO)

Once again, I’m pleased with every item in this Boxwalla beauty box and I know I’ll be using them all summer and into fall.

And here’s a final “unboxing” shot, just to show the wee illustrated sticker that kept the tissue paper closed. I love this company’s attention to detail.
