Product Review: La Mer The SPF 30 UV Protecting Fluid

Oh, the sun. The summer sun. It’s here, and it’s not my friend. I wear facial sunblock all year ’round, but I’m especially diligent about applying it during the hottest months of the year. The problem, of course, is selecting a sunblock that effectively protects my fair/light skin, layers smoothly under makeup, doesn’t leave a white-ish cast, doesn’t clog my pores or create excess shine on my face, and isn’t too difficult to find when I need to buy a new bottle.

Product Review: LUSH Black Stockings

I’m a very pale person, both by nature and by design. When I was a child, my mother enforced a strict sunblock-wearing rule. As a teenager, I entered a Goth phase that involved long, layered clothing and an abhorrence of even the slightest tan. I still apply sunscreen daily and I’ve never really lost my taste for wearing black, but I do reveal my bare legs in the summer, and let me tell you, they are white.

Summer is officially here, and although I do enjoy some things about this season—long daylight hours, farmers markets, iced coffee—I’m really uncomfortable in high temperatures and strong sunlight.
