I’m a longtime admirer of Anna Sui’s work—I own quite a few of her dresses and I never tire of wearing them. One of my favorites is a simple black-lace dress with short sleeves and an A-line, knee-length skirt; it has gone everywhere with me.
When I read that the Holiday 2012 collection from Anna Sui Beauty was inspired by black lace, I looked forward to learning more. Here are some details and pictures of the limited edition “Black Veil” collection, due to be released in November.
A rose-scented, shimmery gold body powder in a vintage-looking bottle with an atomizer. So pretty. ($50)
Also shimmery, also rose-themed: an embossed illuminating facial powder in “Lucent Rose,” a palette of four delicate shades of pink, beige, white, and yellow. ($36)
A black lace makeup pouch containing a mousse eye shadow, a cheek color, and a lip gloss. Available in two color groups: Seductive Spell (01, pinks and reds) or Alluring Charm (02, pinks and purples). ($50 each)
Two single eye shadow shades that will fit the usual Anna Sui eye shadow palette (sold separately). Midnight Purple (005) and Sensual Brown (006) are both smoky and mysterious, with a complex blend of black and pearlized pigments. ($12 each)
Five holiday shades of nail color, all sparkly or shimmery: Sparkle Aurora (014), Starry Black (015), Jewel Blue (110), Dressy Purple (211), Dramatic Red (406). I still miss the older rose-shaped bottles, but the dress-form bottles are cute. ($15 each)
Moisture Lip Treatment, an intensive hydrating cream that’s meant to be sealed into the lips with “Moisturizing Lip Wrap” sheets for three minutes, kind of like a fancy Japanese face mask. ($28)
A candle scented with tea rose in a lace-patterned glass container. Beautiful! ($45)
And, for the Anna Sui fan who has everything, a faux-leather tissue box printed in a black-lace design. ($25)
Several new products will also be added to the permanent beauty line: a Rose Treatment Oil for the face ($40), Rose Body Cream with a tea rose scent ($32), and hand cream in three scents (rose, berry, and citrus herbal, $18 each).
For myself, I’m looking forward to trying the Sensual Brown eye shadow, the nail polishes, and the hand creams, and I’m coveting the fragranced candle. How about you?
The Black Veil collection will be released in November 2012. I’ll be shopping for it at the Anna Sui boutique in New York (113 Greene Street, 212-941-8406).

That powder atomizer is really pretty. I also like the candle. I could see myself getting the tissue box. Lol. What a stylish way to deal with winter colds. When I get sick I pretty much have the box of tissues right by my side. I might look like hell in my ratty old bathrobe, but at least my kleenex will be stylish. The rose treatment oil sounds interesting too.
I know what you mean about the tissues… I’ve had seasonal allergies for the past month, and I’m so sick of looking at the tissue box next to my bed!
I’m curious about the rose treatment oil’s ingredients… if it’s not full of silicones, I may give it a try.
Ooh. I want to prance around nude wearing high heel spritzing myself with that powder.
I think it was *made* to do that. ;)
