It’s been a difficult month or so, for reasons that I won’t go into here. (I’m not one of those so-called millennials who are comfortable sharing everything on the internet—it’s just not in my nature nor my background!) Last Friday I needed some kind of little pick-me-up, so I made a brief detour to The Shops at Columbus Circle Time Warner Center (its full, official name), that towering upscale urban mall that I happen to enjoy more than I should.
Typically, when I venture into Time Warner’s cavernous lobby, I turn towards one of my usual stops: Sephora, Whole Foods (for the Whole Body department), or Aveda. On Friday night, I stepped into the Face Stockholm boutique. I used to visit Face Stockholm’s SoHo shop once in a while, but I haven’t been there in years, and now it’s closed, so this glossy little capsule shop at Columbus Circle is the brand’s sole outpost in NYC right now.
I don’t know exactly why I decided to step into Face Stockholm after such a long hiatus, but I had a nice little chat with the blue-haired, gorgeously purple-eye-shadowed young woman who was working there at the moment, and I found several products that really appealed to me. Reviews will follow over the next week or two.
You can think what you want about the concept of “retail therapy”—it’s a phrase that I try not to overuse, but sometimes it does make sense and it does help a bit.

They really do! and the prices are not bad, and it’s a welcome change from the craziness in Sephora or a department store.
