It’s that time of year…when holiday specials start appearing on television. As least we’re not bombarded by “star-studded” Christmas variety-shows as frequently as we were in the 1970s-80s. I recently wrote a run-down of a few of the most memorable examples of that genre. You can read it here.

  1. Confession: I miss those corny Christmas specials. We had no choice but to watch because we only had 3 tv channels to choose from. Something other than the usual fare was a welcome treat back then. I’m going to go read your run-down now and see if you picked any of my favorites.

    1. I remember those 3-channel days! — well, three networks, the local PBS channel, and another local New York channel. That was why these specials were so, um, special! I watched or re-watched all of the ones I mentioned, and the experience was oddly soothing. :)
