Reading: Colm Tóibín’s Brooklyn
Video: The final season of Downton Abbey…and I’ve recently gotten hooked on The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
Audio: Bowie, Bowie, Bowie.
Art: Reading about Romare Bearden for a freelance project
Drink: Egg Nog coffee beans from Empire Coffee & Tea, a Christmas present from Mr. TC
Eats & Treats: Homemade chia pudding with honey, nuts, and frozen berries.
Garb: This month is all about black wool knee-length dresses with black tights, chunky black heels, and print scarves.
Beauty Products: Still working on healing my skin after my December dermatitis attack, and adding LUSH’s wondrous Ultrabalm cleanser to my CeraVe regimen
Purchase: A new laptop case. It has a black-lace pattern. I am so predictable.
Pleasure: A long-overdue haircut!
Worry: Deadlines (as usual). The possibility of snow and ice finally arriving in full force.
Stray Thought: A first visit to any library is always a thrill for me.
Image: Kate Greenaway, Almanack for 1887, via New York Public Library Digital Collections.
Reading: I’m reading so many different things right now, but yesterday I started Daniel Ellsberg’s “Secrets”, about his role in ending the Vietnam War by releasing the secret Pentagon Papers.
Video: I keep re-watching and re-watching “Making a Murderer.”
Audio: I’m giving Kanye’s discography a re-listen in anticipation of his new album.
Art: I need to see what’s on exhibition around town.
Drink: Café Bustelo and lots of tea. I’m enjoying the jasmine green tea from Serengeti Teas in Harlem.
Eats & Treats: My homemade Italian Wedding Soup.
Garb: Oversized sweaters, leggings, and boots. I went shopping this weekend! I even bought new heels!
Beauty Products: I picked up two of the new Dual-Intensity eyeshadows from the NARS Spring collection. I’ve also been really into my collection of Morphe palettes. And ALL of the highlighter.
Purchase: Paying for my accountant’s services on Friday evening. I’m getting a nicely-sized refund that will allow me to pay off my credit card, save, and justify this weekend’s shopping. YAY!
Pleasure: This was the first week of my new work schedule, where (unless someone desperately needs the weekend off or I need to change my schedule) I work Mon-Fri with one day of home office!
Worry: My boyfriend leaves for a two-week tour of Europe with the band he’s in on Friday. I always worry when he’s away.
Stray Thought: I need to buy some booze for tonight’s Democratic debate.
Congratulations on the tax refund *and* the new non-weekend work schedule! I share your joy in the latter, particularly. I worked way too many weekends in 2015. Cheers!
