Product Review: Face Stockholm Eyeliner Pencil in Kiki

I recently wrote about my visit to Face Stockholm and posted a photo of the items I’d purchased. Here is the first of three reviews resulting from that visit, a look at Face Stockholm’s Eyeliner Pencil in Kiki.

Kiki is a milk-chocolate brown shade that leans cool. I like its name, which reminds me of 1920s bohemian “it girl” Kiki de Montparnasse, and I’m down to the last inch of my two usual eyeliners, Urban Decay 24/7 Bourbon and Laura Mercier Brown Copper, so I decided to take Kiki home with me.

Face Stockholm’s eye pencils are made in Germany (always a good sign) and can be sharpened in a standard sharpener. (I like to include this fact because I refuse to buy any more pencils that require the purchase of  a special custom sharpener—like Sephora’s house color line.)

It’s been a difficult month or so, for reasons that I won’t go into here. On Friday night, I stepped into the Face Stockholm boutique. I used to visit Face Stockholm’s SoHo shop once in a while, but I haven’t been there in years, and now it’s closed, so this glossy little capsule shop at Columbus Circle is the brand’s sole outpost in NYC right now.

It was an unusually long stretch between visits for me, due to the miserable winter weather and an especially busy work season. I didn’t end up buying any clothing from the sale rack (just as well!), but I did spend a while examining the Spring 2014 cosmetics line.

I was especially charmed by these limited edition lipsticks in rose-patterned cases, available in three shades: Cherry Pink, Coral Pink, and Deco Orange. They were launched in early February.
