Although I wear sunblock on my face all year ’round, I’m especially conscious of the need for protection on sunny summer days. I recently tried out a new product, Bare Minerals’ Advanced Protection SPF 20 Moisturizer for Combination Skin, which boasts a “proprietary ActiveSoil Complex” as well as hydration and a mineral-based sun shield.
Even though the ayurvedic spa Pratima is located in New York, I didn’t know about it until three years ago, when I came across some Pratima Skincare products in a salon-boutique in Philadelphia. Ever since I first brought home a few of those products, I’ve made many visits to Pratima Spa to restock my supply of Neem Rose Face Sunscreen.

It’s turned out to be a big week for nudity here on Tinsel Creation: first Lady Gaga, then Helmut Newton, and now an eyeshadow named for the folk heroine who rode her horse naked through the streets of her city in order to gain tax cuts for its citizens. The hot weather must be getting to me.

If you’re a fan of Poppy King and her Lipstick Queen line of top-notch lip colors, you’ve probably also taken note of her guest collaborations with other brands—J. Crew, Kate Spade, and now, the “online concept boutique” called House of Exposure.
House of Exposure offers merchandise in all media, with a philosophy of “bringing art in all of its incarnations into our daily lives.” This year, House of Exposure’s creative director Periel Aschenbrand invited Poppy on board to create a lipstick inspired by Helmut Newton’s photographs of women.
