My Back Pages: Louisa May Alcott’s Eight Cousins

As I think back on books that piqued my early interest in fragrance, I can include quite a few examples of “young adult” literature. Like many girls, I was an avid reader of Louisa May Alcott’s work during my pre-teen years—Little Women, of course, but also lesser-known novels like An Old-Fashioned Girl and Eight Cousins.

Product Review: LUSH Emotional Brilliance Liquid Lips in Perspective

A few days ago, I wrote about a preview of LUSH’s new Emotional Brilliance makeup line that was held in New York. (You can read that post here.) Over the next week or two I’ll be reviewing a few Emotional Brilliance products that I’ve tried. I’ll begin with a liquid lipstick called Liquid Lips, just because I’m always drawn to lip color and I found this one to be quite unusual.

On the Street: Edward Hopper and Bourbon Coffee

Bourbon Coffee is a café located at 43 West 14th Street in Manhattan, just west of Union Square. 14th Street is something of a thoroughfare, so I’ve passed their front door many times before; this time, however, I had to stop and take a quick picture of their sidewalk sign. It’s an homage to Edward Hopper’s iconic Nighthawks, complete with a credit line in the lower corner. I don’t know who the on-staff artist could be, but he or she did a nice job with this chalk sketch.
