Last week I posted about my visit to Club Clio, the new Korean beauty store near Manhattan’s Union Square. On my second visit, I had a nice chat with a sales associate named Aeri Moon, and she helped me select a product or two. Since eyeliners seem to be a special area of expertise for the Club Clio brands, we picked out a liner that would work for me: Clio Waterproof Pencil Liner in a shade called Kill Brown…
I haven’t bought anything from MAC in several years—my last purchase was a Viva Glam lipstick in the limited edition Cyndi Lauper shade, back in 2010. But I happened to be walking down 5th Avenue on the very day that MAC had unveiled its Holiday 2014 collection, and the visuals in the window of the MAC boutique pulled me right in. The collection is called “Heirloom Mix.”
Last week I made my first visit to the first Tony Moly store in the United States. I was lured to Tony Moly by the rumors of hand creams in containers shaped like apples and lipsticks in cases shaped like cats and all sorts of glitter and twinkle and cuteness. I was not disappointed. (Well, they don’t have the cat lipsticks, yet… but I live in hope.)
Being me, I managed to seek out a more practical item or two amidst all the fun. I picked up a pencil called Crystal Lovely Eyes (or, as the product itself reads, Crystal Lovley Eyes) for $8.
I’m planning on making “5 on 5” a regular feature for the 5th of each month; sometimes it will feature beauty products, sometimes other things. My list of beauty basics seems like a good place to begin. These are all items that I’ve purchased and repurchased over the past few years; they never let me down.
