I do try to stay up-to-date with New York’s beauty and fragrance retail news, but it’s a lot to keep track of, and sometimes I don’t know about something until I literally walk right past it on the street.
This Club Clio boutique opened on 14th Street, near Union Square, just last week. I stopped in and took a few photos while I browsed…
Club Clio is a Korean beauty brand, and this shop is the first in Manhattan, following others in Queens and northern New Jersey. It carries three lines: Club Clio Professional (described to me as “the MAC of Korea”), Peripera (more youthful, trend-oriented cosmetics), and Goodal (skincare).
Here are a few displays and products that caught my eye on my visit!
Despite my age, I’m always drawn to “kawaii” packaging like these visuals for Peripera’s Peri’s Tint collection. I’m not actually going to buy any hot-pink blush or sea-green eyeliner, but I’m allowed to look, right?
The Club Clio line offers a staggeringly wide selection of eyeliners: pencils and liquids and felt-tips, neutrals and brights, single liners and liners designed to be worn in layers. Many of them are made in Italy and Germany, where the best liners are often produced.
These high-end “Art Lipsticks” from Club Clio belong to a collection with packaging designed by contemporary artists. Here we see some Audrey Hepburn-esque ladies; they also show up on compacts for blush, eyeshadow, and highlighter.
A wall of nail polish. Who can resist? I tested a shimmery, deep bottle-green shade that reminded me of a beetle’s wing. So many options. Plenty of testers, too, as you can see.
From the Peripera line: heart-shaped powder blushers and liquid “cushion blushers” in tubes with sponge dispensers.
Peripera lipsticks and lip glosses. Are they giant, or is that lady just very tiny? Kidding.
Not a good shot, but I was very curious about these Letter Me eyeshadow pencils by Peripera. I think I just like the idea of handwriting as a motif for cosmetics.
Love Fairy Hand Cream—just five dollars. I mean, really. We all need one of these.
This Club Clio location also offers weekend makeovers and makeup lessons (for a fee) by appointment. Call for information!
Since this shop is located right on one of my regular paths across town, and the products are such fun and the staff are so friendly, I’m sure I’ll be back soon. Maybe I’ll even do a product review or two.
In the meantime, here is the store information:
