The FedEx truck made a stop at my door tonight, and I’ve just opened a sample of Lipstick Queen’s new product for winter/holiday 2014: Ice Queen, a snowy-white illuminating lipstick that brings “a whisper of silver and gold and a hint of iridescence” to lips.

I haven’t bought anything from MAC in several years—my last purchase was a Viva Glam lipstick in the limited edition Cyndi Lauper shade, back in 2010. But I happened to be walking down 5th Avenue on the very day that MAC had unveiled its Holiday 2014 collection, and the visuals in the window of the MAC boutique pulled me right in. The collection is called “Heirloom Mix.”

Well, my infatuation with Guerlain cosmetics continues, so I thought I’d post another lipstick review. Pinky Groove is a shade from the revamped KissKiss line, launched in late summer 2014. Like many shades in the KissKiss collection, it has a silly-sounding name but it’s a beautiful color. The official product shot (above) is very close to the actual product, but I took a few photos of my own nevertheless…

I recently happened to visit Jersey City’s 6th Borough Market, an outdoor event offering crafts, antiques, vintage clothing, and interesting food, all locally made or locally sourced. I stopped by Almonde Botanicals table, where I couldn’t help noticing this display of powdered facial scrubs packaged in salt shakers, and since Fall is a good time to make adjustments in skincare before Winter arrives and takes its toll, I picked up Almonde’s Mocha Facial Exfoliant to take home with me.
