I’ve been enjoying drugstore lipsticks just as much as high-end lip colors lately. It might just be the spring weather putting me in the mood for cheap-and-chic makeup, or perhaps it’s the fact that mass-market lipstick offerings really are better than ever these days.

I tried a Rimmel lipstick a few years ago and ended up throwing away most of it—that was the Moisture Renew formula, if I remember correctly. However, Rimmel’s Lasting Finish lipstick is another story entirely.

Product Review: Korres Quercetin & Oak Anti-Ageing Primer

To prime or not to prime? Many of my beauty-blogging friends, including Gaia at The Non-Blonde, insist that a base layer is necessary: it helps makeup to apply smoothly, keeps it color-true, and makes it last longer.

I like the general idea of primers, so I started trying them about six years ago, but I wasn’t happy with the results. My skin has some surface oiliness, so I never felt like the primers really adhered. Worse yet, most primers’ heavy doses of various silicones clogged my pores if I used them on any regular basis.

The happy exception to the above, and the only primer I’ve ever repurchased, is Korres Quercetin & Oak Anti-Ageing Primer.

Product Review: Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Cleanser

Over the past year or so I’ve learned to treat my skin more carefully, with a special emphasis on gentle cleansing. My current regimen includes a spritz of rosewater and a tiny dab of LUSH 9 to 5 in the morning and my trusty Victoria Lanolin Ägg-Tvål Eggwhite Facial Soap in the evening. Once a week or so, I give myself an extra treat with Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip cleaner.
