Here’s another review from my drugstore mini-binge on Nonie Creme/Colour Prevails products! This is Colour Prevails’ Classic Lip Duo, including lipstick and lip gloss, in the wonderfully named shade Vintage Rose (01). I know — how could I resist?
Like many items in the Colour Prevails collection, this is a multi-purpose product. The lipstick and gloss can be used separately or layered together. Here’s my own photo of the Lip Duo…
…featuring its butterfly-motif packaging. Sort of 1960s, sort of 1980s, sort of Italian-looking somehow. In any case, unlike anything else you’ll see at the drugstore, or even at a department store.
Vintage Rose is a cool-toned medium rose-nude shade.
Here it is again, opened up. The lipstick is described as a “classic satin finish,” and that sounds about right. It provides even, medium coverage without any drag, and it’s buildable. One layer is just right for the office, and a second intensifies the color for evening.
The gloss is lightweight and slick, not sticky. It’s lightly pigmented, so on its own, it’s very subtle and natural. Applied over the lipstick, it adds shine and a bit of dimension.
And here are swatches on my inner wrist, photographed in indirect sunlight.
This is turning out to be a can’t-miss product for me; I’ve been reaching for it regularly. It’s a pretty, feminine neutral shade that goes beyond “your lips but better,” and its two formulas are also easy and pleasant to wear.
Nonie Creme’s Colour Prevails collection is available at Walgreen’s (and Walgreen’s online), select Duane Reade stores, and Drugstore.com.
