Although I tend to accumulate more lipsticks and perfumes than I need, I actually don’t own many blushes. My current collection is comprised of one Sunday Riley blush (nearly empty) and one Milano blush from the drugstore. This Paul & Joe Cheek Color, a limited edition for Fall 2015, is going to replace the Sunday Riley.
Paul & Joe is offering three limited edition shades for this autumn, and I chose Café Calva (003), a “salmon and coral” duo. Compact cases are sold separately. Once again, I couldn’t resist Paul & Joe’s latest feline motif. (It may be sold out by now…)
Here’s a shot of the closed compact. It has a cardboard exterior, a plastic interior with a space for the blush refill, a magnetic closure, and no mirror.
I bought mine on Beautyhabit, just in time to nab a gift-with-purchase makeup pouch in a matching print.
And here’s another sunlight view of Café Calva.
Normally, the words “coral” and “salmon” scare me, but this duo turns out to peach-y enough to work on my neutral-pale complexion. Applied with a medium-size blush brush, it applies as a sheer wash of color and it’s very forgiving. It has a very gentle pearly finish that does not translate into sparkle on my face.
All in all, I’m very happy with this new blusher for fall; the healthy-looking color gives my face a little boost, and the cats make me smile, too.
My friend Gaia (The Non-Blonde) has reviewed the Cinnamon Roast (001) shade here. (She selected the cat compact, too.)
